Mid-century Teak Bookcase by Søborg Møbler

A Danish, mid-century 3 shelf bookcase by Søborg Møbler, offered by Snowdrift Antiques.

Søborg Møbelfabrik of Denmark was founded in 1890 and has a long history of producing high-quality, Danish-designed furniture. They have a history of collaborating with renowned architects and designers. The company played a key role in shaping the "Danish Design" concept. Søborg Møbelfabrik is still active today. The mark underneath indicates this piece was purchased in Copenhagen, Denmark from cabinet maker and distributor Povl Dinesen. There is also a Søborg sticker on the back. It was made in the 1960s.

This is a thick teak veneer piece with excellent color and grain. It has 3 teak shelves that are nicely rounded on the front edge for a smooth, clean look. There are holes on the side walls for a length of 32 inches for shelf supports to allow for a wide choice of shelf positions. The tapered legs, which are unusual for a bookcase, give it the classic mid-century style.

This piece measures 39 ½ inches wide by 12 ½ deep by 57 inches high.

It is in excellent vintage condition. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
