Mid-century Teak Veneer Bookcase by Bornholms Møbelfabrik

A beautiful teak veneer bookcase with tapered sides by Bornholms Møbelfabrik offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
 
Bornholms Møbelfabrik was a renowned Danish furniture manufacturer established in 1948 in Nexø on Bornholm Island. The company is often referred to as Nexø Møbelfabrik. They produced high-end furniture sold globally, including luxury markets during the 1950s and 1960s.  
 
They are best known for producing high-quality mid-century modern teak and rosewood furniture, primarily designed by Johannes Sorth. The firm is celebrated for its bookshelves and cabinets. The short time they were in business makes them a rare find in the United States.
 
Johannes Sorth was the main designer and owner, defining the company’s signature style of elegant, functional, and well-crafted, often tapered, storage pieces.
 
This piece is the classically side tapered teak bookcase with one fixed shelf and 3 adjustable shelves. Underneath are tapered legs and stretcher bars. 
 
On the top right corner in back it is marked 332-41 and with a smaller stamp of “25 MAR. 1964” and “1 APR. 1964”, that probably represents a production and an inspection date. 
This piece measures 39 ½ inches wide and 71 ½ inches tall.  With the classic Bornholms side tapering, it measures 11 inches deep at the base, 9 ¾ inches deep in the middle and 8 ½ inches deep at the top.
 
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The teak veneer has a beautiful grain and color. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
