Heywood-Wakefield Large Square Step End Table
A large, mid-century square step end table by Heywood-Wakefield from Snowdrift Antiques.
The Heywood Brothers furniture company formed in 1826 in Massachusetts and merged with the Wakefield Company in 1897. In 1921 they became Heywood-Wakefield. They first made wicker and rattan furniture. By 1949, Heywood -Wakefield designers were being asked to produce more modern furniture lines to keep up with the times and the tastes of American households.
This beautiful piece is the Large Square Step End Table, Model M1580G. It is in the color “Wheat”, which after several decades is difficult to distinguish from the other Heywood-Wakefield color, “Champagne”. This model was only made from 1956 through 1957. Thus, they are fairly difficult to find.
This table is excellent vintage condition. The color is still bright and is free of water rings. At around 70 years old there is some normal wear on the lower base level.
It measures 34 inches square with a maximum height of 22 inches.
