$0.00Price

A vintage Heywood Wakefield desk and shelves with chair from Snowdrift Antiques.

The Heywood Brothers furniture company formed in 1826 in Massachusetts and merged with the Wakefield Company in 1897. In 1921 they became Heywood-Wakefield. They first made wicker and rattan furniture. By 1949, Heywood -Wakefield designers were being asked to produce more modern furniture lines to keep up with the times and the tastes of American households.

This hard to find piece is called the “Desk Bookcase”. It is Model M328W and was made only from 1951 through 1954. It features 3 drawers on the left and 2 adjustable shelves on the right.  Above the drawers is a panel door that opens to provide storage and a writing surface 29” high.  In the desk area behind the door is an adjustable and removeable “pigeon-hole” organizer. The entire piece measures 60" wide by 13 deep and stands 42" high.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition.  It has a beautiful finish with less than normal wear.  The panel door on the cabinet has a replacement magnet latch mechanism.
