Mid-Century 3 Section Sofa with Sofa Table
A mid-century 3 section sofa with a sofa table from Snowdrift Antiques.
This 3 piece sectional sofa was made by the Fort Smith Couch & Bedding Company of Fort Smith, Arkansas, probably from the early to late 1950s.
It features one section with a rounded end and another with an arm. The center section turn 90 degrees to give a nice, expansive shape, perfect for the corner of a room. The fabric is either wool or wool blend jacquard in a medium green floral on a celery green back ground. It has 3 accent pillows in the shape of a square, triangle and tube.
The left section measures 50 inches from rounded edge to center edge. The center section measures 50 inches from back corner to back corner. The right section measures 48 inches from center edge to end. The back height is 29 inches and the seat height is 18 inches.
This piece is in excellent and remarkable vintage condition. Given the amount of work required to re-cover a piece like this, I have to assume it is most likely the original fabric. It is in excellent condition for any age. It is clean and free of wear and frays. The cushions are firm and comfortable. It appears this piece was stored in a time capsule and kids, and maybe even adults, were rarely allowed to sit on it.
This piece has a sofa table that sat behind it for some number of years. It appears this table is the top piece of a Heywood Wakefield large square end table with “new” legs attached to it. It sits at the perfect height behind the sofa for a lamp. I am including it with the sofa if you want it.
This is a beautiful curved 3 piece sectional with mid-century style that will be the focal point of any room.
