Mid-Century Bedroom High Boy Chest, Lane Rhythm
A mid-century high boy chest and dresser with mirror from the Rhythm line by Lane Furniture from Snowdrift Antiques.
The Lane Furniture Company was founded in Altavista, VA in 1912. For decades they were known for their cedar chests. By 1950 they saw Danish modern furniture imports begin to take hold in households. The Rhythm line of Lane furniture featured walnut and pecan woods and sometimes poplar, molded into clean and fluid lines. Regardless of what you read, the Rhythm line was not designed by Paul McCobb.
This Lane bedroom five drawer high boy chest is from Lane Furniture’s Rhythm line. It has five drawers with the integrated Rhythm handles. The top drawer is divided. It is model 294-11. It is made of a beautiful walnut veneer with exceptional grain and depth. The serial number on this piece is 461121, which tells us it was manufactured on December 11, 1964.
It measures 36 inches wide by 18 deep by 44 ½ high.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. It is solid in construction with very minimal wear.
