Mid-century Bedroom Suite by Dillingham

$0.00Price

A mid-century four piece bedroom suite by Dillingham Furniture offered by Snowdrift Antiques.

Dillingham Furniture was founded in 1889 in Sheboygan, Michigan. It quickly became a company known for its quality furniture. Decades later the company’s innovation in mid-century modern design helped it keep pace with European imports. Dillingham was a prominent American furniture manufacturer that unfortunately closed its doors in 1988. The company was recognized for incorporating modern manufacturing techniques and materials, resulting in aesthetically pleasing, durable, and long-lasting furniture. Despite its closure, Dillingham's legacy endures through the appeal of its vintage pieces, which are highly sought after by collectors today.

This four piece set is from the Esprit line (1962-1968) which was designed by the renowned designer Merton Gershun. The minimalist Esprit line is made of walnut and features clean lines, integrated drawers and plinth bases. The surfaces are outlined by a sculpted border. The simple but striking detail of the Esprit line is the black painted background between the drawers.

This collection of pieces consists of ..

  • 9 drawer dresser, #3005, 72 x 19 x 30.5” H
  • 6 drawer dresser, #3001, 60 x 19 x 30.5” H
  • Two 1 door/1 drawer nightstands, #3008, 19.75 X 15.5 X 23” H

The dressers and one of the nightstands have the “Dillingham Esprit” script, cloth label inside the top left drawer. The six drawer dresser has “3001” on the back. One of the night stands is marked extensively underneath and also tells us at least that specific piece was made in March 1963.

This set is in excellent vintage condition.  The walnut grain is beautiful and has been brought back to life with a light oiling to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
