Mid-Century Bedroom Suite

Mid-Century Bedroom Suite, The Wharton by Kent-Coffey

$0.00Price

The Kent Coffey Furniture Company was founded in 1907 in Lenoir, NC by Harold Coffey. He was one of the leading pioneers of early North Carolina furniture makers. Kent Coffey furniture has always had a reputation of being sturdy and well built. The company was acquired in 1983 by the furniture division of Singer and soon went out of business. Their beautiful mid-century modern pieces are highly sought after today.

This mid-century 6 piece bedroom suite is from the line called “The Wharton”. It features a solid 9 drawer dresser with attached mirror, a spacious high boy chest, two night stands and a full headboard.

The Wharton line was introduced in the 1960s. Like all Kent-Coffey pieces it is substantial and the pieces are made of solid walnut. The mid-century styling is unmistakable with its grooved doors, hanging door pulls and elongated drawer pulls. This set is stained in the color Kent-Coffey called “Brandied Walnut”.

The pieces measure as follows.

• Dresser, 72 ½ inches W x 20 D x 31 ¼ H
• Mirror, 56 W x 36 H
• High Boy Chest, 42 W x 20 ½ D x 52 ½ H
• Night Stands, 23 ¼ W x 17 D x 25 ½ H
• Headboard 56 ½ W x 38 H

This suite is in excellent vintage condition. All of the surface pieces have been covered by glass, probably their entire lives. The glass tops are included but not pictured due to the glare they create. This has protected the tops from stain lightening often seen due to the Colorado sun. The only marks are some very small circular marks on some of the corners from small round spacers under the glass.

This is a beautiful set for a mid-century bedroom.
