Mid-century Ceramic Lamp by Quartite

A mid-century, lamp by Quartite Creative, offered by Snowdrift Antiques..

The Quartite Creative Corporation (QCC) was formed in Westbury, New York in 1948 and operated until 1970. They produced top of the line home decoratives, fixtures and furniture. One of their specialties were chalkware lamps, which were made of plaster and decorated with interesting textures and colors.

This lamp is a classic Quartite.  If you know mid-century lighting, you know as soon as you see it that is a Quartite. It has the typical Quartite mark on the back where the cord enters the lamp. That mark also indicates that this lamp is from 1960.

It has the classic, pebbled earth tones on a smooth, white background with a pebbled base and flared neck. The drum shade is vintage and is probably original to the lamp. It has good texture to the shade material for interest. It has a 3 way socket.

It stands 45 inches to the top of the shade.

This lamp is in excellent vintage condition. I find no nicks or chips to the ceramic, which is remarkable after 66 years.

This is the perfect vintage accent piece for your mid-century living room.
