$1,195.00Price

A mid-century china hutch from the Mainline series by Hooker Furniture from Snowdrift Antiques.

The Hooker Furniture Company was founded in 1924 in Martinsville, VA by J Clyde Hooker. They were known for producing solidly built furniture at a reasonable price. They are still in business today with the founder’s grandson working as CEO.

In the 1960s they rode the wave of Danish inspired furniture with the Mainline line of furniture.  It featured the classically clean lines favored by Danish designers. Their Mainline collection remains the most sought after and collected of their pieces.

This large, one piece walnut hutch is Model 811. It provides a large amount of closed and open storage.  The bottom section features doors on the left and right that open to provide access to a large, one section shelved storage area. The lower center door is fixed and does not open.

Above and to the right are two drawers. The top drawer has four compartments and is lined with green felt for the storage of silverware.  There are two open display/storage section above those drawers.  The top left section has two optional glass doors that cover the two large sections that have plate rails for china display.  The lower left section is open and has a smoked glass base that provides protection from liquids.

The legs are tapered with painted tips and supported by stretcher bars.

It is a large one piece hutch that stands 50 inches wide by 16 deep and 67 ¼ inches tall.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition.  The grain and finish are beautiful with very minimal wear. There is some minor wear underneath the gray glass. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
