Mid-Century Coffee Table by American of Martinsville Accord Line
The American of Martinsville company was founded in Martinsville, VA in 1906. Originally they produced only bedroom furniture, expanding to dining room furniture in the 1920s and living room pieces in the 1950s. They are still in business today.
This coffee table is model 3375 from the Accord line. The Accord line is made of solid walnut and is highlighted with a nickel “X” inlay. It is a dense, heavy piece and very well constructed. The Accord line was designed by Merton Gershun (1909-89) and features round, tapered legs and Danish styling. This piece is from the mid-1950s to 1960s.
It measures 54” x 20 ½ x 14 ½ H.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. There is some age appropriate wear on one corner side edge and a small nick along one edge.
