Mid-Century Coffee Table, Lane Perception

Mid-Century Coffee Table, Lane Perception

$0.00Price

A mid-century coffee table from the Perception line by Lane Furniture, offered by Snowdrift Antiques.

The Lane Furniture Company was founded in Altavista, VA in 1912. For decades they were known for their cedar chests.    By 1950 they saw Danish modern furniture imports begin to take hold in households and began to make styles to compete.

This is beautiful coffee table is from the Perception line, famous for its basketweave look.  This piece is the “Cocktail Table”, Model 908-01. The Perception line features beautifully grained gunstock Walnut with lightly contrasting stained, rounded edges. It has definitely not been re-finished. The legs are braced triangles for that mid-century look. The drawer front underneath bears the wovenwood, walnut strips that identify it as the Perception line.

It measures 56” long by 20 deep by 14 high.  The drawer is 23 ½ inches across.

This table shows the Lane mark underneath, the style number “908-01” and the serial number “362050”, which when read backwards tells us it was made on May 2, 1963.

Its table top is remarkable in grain, color and condition.  This piece has been protected by a piece of glass, I assume for its entire life.  It looks as if it was just made yesterday. I will include the glass if the buyer wants it. It is in beautiful vintage condition.

This coffee table will be a focal point in the space.
