Mid-Century Danish Credenza
A mid-century, teak credenza with tambour doors by Bernhard Pedersen & Son offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
Bernhard Pedersen & Son, a Danish furniture maker, has a long and strong tradition in furniture and cabinetmaking stretching all the way back to the company’s start in 1902. Through three generations the family run company has created and sold classic Danish furniture to many parts of the world. The period 1950 – 1970 in particular was characterized by some of the most stunning and well-executed pieces in Pedersen & Son’s history. The classic mid-century sideboards and daybeds designed by Danish furniture designers, including the Danish world-renowned Johannes Andersen, Svend Aage Madsen and Kurt Østervig were – and still are – highly valued by customers worldwide.
This piece is the BP 142-65 teak sideboard with sliding tambour doors. This is a beautifully done piece with tapered legs, 3 drawers and 3 adjustable shelves, two of which are lined in green felt. The front has a slightly contoured frame that indicates it is probably from the 1970s. The tambour doors bend as they are opened and curve out of sight, around to the back of the piece. This beauty is finished in back allowing it to sit anywhere in a room. The veneer color and grain are beautiful as teak usually is.
It measures 66” long by 20” deep by 31 ½ ” high.
It is marked in two places underneath. One is the “MADE IN DENMARK/Bernhard Pedersen & Son” mark and the other is the model number label.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. It has been oiled to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
