Mid-century Danish Teak Coffee Table
A mid-century teak coffee table by Møbelintarsia of Denmark, offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
This teak coffee table was created by Møbelintarsia of Denmark, either in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It is marked underneath. This beautiful piece is an example of the timeless elegance and superior craftsmanship synonymous with Scandinavian furniture of the mid-20th century. It features a fluted, no doubt handmade, curved edge along both sides. Each end is highlighted by a contrasting edge. Underneath is a beautifully done cane shelf. Supported by its tapered legs, it is sturdy, while also serving as a work of art. Not a lot of info is available on Møbelintarsia; these pieces are very rare. The maker’s label underneath is not to be confused with a furniture making technique of the same name.
This beauty measures 51 inches long by 18 ¾ wide and 18 ½ high.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. Some minor breaks in the cane shelf have been expertly repaired. The teak wood has been oiled to relieve it from decades of Colorado dryness. The spotless grain on top glows with its natural teak color.
This coffee table is a classic and will be noticed in any mid-century living space it occupies.
