Mid-Century Dresser and Mirror by Johnson Carper
A mid-century bedroom dresser with attached mirror from the Fashion Trend line by Johnson Carper offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
The Johnson-Carper Furniture Company was founded in Roanoke, Virginia in 1927. They became known for stylish but affordable furniture for the modern American home in the 1950s and 60s. Johnson-Carper furniture was a fixture on the bedroom set of the TV show “I Love Lucy”.
This six drawer dresser is from the JC line of furniture called “Fashion Trend”. It is walnut wood with laminate surfaces with a very nice wood grain. The drawers feature concave rectangular handles and horizontal wood strips for a clean mid-century look. Tapered legs complete the mid-century style of this 1950s piece. It is marked “19 37 11” on the back. The mirror is attached and is marked “19 37 95”. It has the Fashion Trend label in the upper left drawer.
This vintage dresser measures 50 inches wide by 17 ¾ deep and 30 high. The mirror measures 40 x 26.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. There is minor, less than age appropriate wear to the top but there are no water rings, lamp rings or large spots. There are some very small chips to the front bottom corners. Overall it is solid in construction.
