Mid-Century Dresser/Credenza Entertainment Stand by Martinsville

$0.00Price

A mid-century dresser/credenza by Amrican of Martinville from Snowdrift Antiques.

The American of Martinsville company was founded in Martinsville, VA in 1906. Originally they produced only bedroom furniture, expanding to dining room furniture in the 1920s and living room pieces in the 1950s. They are still in business today.

This piece is marked on back as “824-2 DRESSER BASE”. It could work as a dresser, a dining room sideboard or even an entertainment stand. It is a walnut veneer with a beautiful grain. It is well constructed. The top and sides have a narrow, rectangular outline around the outer edges. Underneath are tapered legs with stretcher bars. In front are 4 narrow drawers on the left and 3 wider drawers on the right. The left drawers have knobs while the right drawers have the classic Martinsville recessed hand hold pulls. The top left drawer has the American of Martinsville mark. This piece is from the 1960s.

This piece is in very good vintage condition. It has some age appropriate wear to the top with a few marks. See image 4. There are no water marks and no rippling of the veneer. There is a very small nick to the top of the veneer on the left edge, see image 13. There is a small nick to the veneer, out of sight on the back bottom corner of the left side, see image 11 and 12.

It measures 58 inches x 19 x 32 high.
