Mid-Century Dresser with Mirror by Kent-Coffey
A mid-century bedroom dresser and attached mirror by Kent-Coffey from Snowdrift Antiques.
The Kent-Coffey Manufacturing Company was started in 1907 by Harold Coffey in Lenoir, North Carolina. Harold was a major influence in the North Carolina furniture industry during the early-twentieth century. They produced quality, durable furniture for a fair price. Today, Kent-Coffey designs are some of the most sought after because of their vintage, eye-catching designs and durability.
This piece is a 9 drawer dresser from “The Escort” line in a stain Kent-Coffey called “Toffee Walnut”. It has 3 stacked narrow drawers on each side and a wider set of 3 down the middle. The handles on the side drawers are curved lips, while the middle drawers have hand grips on the outer edges. The mirror is curved on top and can be attached to either side of the dresser, or with a few drilled holes it can be mounted in the center. It can also be hung on the wall.
The dresser has classic mid-century lines with tapered legs and stretcher bars connecting them. The top left drawer has the Kent-Coffey/Escort mark.
The dresser measures 64 inches wide by 19 deep x 31 high. The mirror stands 45” x 29”.
This piece is in very good vintage condition. It is structurally sound and without repair. The wood has beautiful grain and color. A large majority of the top surface has spent most of its time in Colorado protected by fabric. The left end was uncovered and is a slightly lighter color. See image 6. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
This is a classically beautiful, mid-century Kent-Coffey dresser and mirror.
