Mid-Century End Table by American of Martinsville
A vintage mid-century end table designed by Merton Gershun for American of Martinsville from Snowdrift Antiques.
This is one of the most rare end tables by American of Martinsville. It is from the late 1960s to early 1970s. It was designed by Merton Gershun. He was a prolific designer of American mid-century modern furniture. His most well known lines for American of Martinsville are the Dania and Accord lines. This coffee table is neither of those and extensive research has failed to uncover the name of the line.
Whatever line it is from, it is a gorgeous and hard to find mid-century modern walnut end table. It has one drawer in front. The legs are rectangular and are clad on two sides with brass strips. It has stretcher across the front and back for support.
It is marked “American of Martinsville” in the drawer. Underneath is the key to its line name with the stencil “600-27 / LOT 672”.
This table is in excellent vintage condition. It has age appropriate wear on the top but no water rings or large areas of discoloration. It was used and enjoyed but taken care of.
It measures 27 ½ inches long by 20 ½ by 20 ½ high.
