Mid-Century Ice Bucket by Culver in Cinnabar Iris Pattern with 22K Gold
A vintage 22K gold ice bucket by Culver from Snowdrift Antiques.
Culver Ltd. was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 1939. Back in the day, Culver glasses were known to be lavish and full of style with their 22K gold accents. From the 1950s through the 1960s Culver gained fame and their products became collectible, being sold only at high end stores. Culver was sold in 1996. Sixty years later, they remain lavish and full of style.
This glass ice bucket from Culver is in the pattern Cinnabar Iris, also known as CUV62 and I have also seen it referred to as “Iris Cinnabar”. It features irises in a deep rusty red color called cinnabar and some in Culver’s signature 22K gold with green leaf fronds highlighted in gold. Internet searching tells me it is one of the harder to find patterns. It has a decorative, radially ribbed bottom. This piece does not have the Culver signature but does retain its Culver gold foil sticker. That tells us it is from the 1970s. It comes with a pair of acrylic ice tongs that are probably original to it.
This ice bucket stands 4 ¼ inches tall with a 5 ½ inch diameter at the base and 6 ¾ at the top.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. Since it still has its gold foil sticker that shows no sign of wear or water which makes me doubt this piece was ever used. There are no chips, nicks or cracks.
This is a beautiful and uncommon 22K gold Culver ice bucket that will brighten up any service or bar setup.
