Mid-Century Low Boy Chest by Hooker Furniture
A mid-century Low boy chest from the Mainline collection by Hooker Furniture from Snowdrift Antiques.
The Hooker Furniture Company was founded in 1924 in Martinsville, VA by J Clyde Hooker. They were known for producing solidly built furniture at a reasonable price. They are still in business today with the founder’s grandson working as CEO.
In the 1960s they rode the wave of Danish inspired furniture with the Mainline line of furniture. It featured the classically clean lines favored by Danish designers. Their Mainline collection remains the most sought after and collected of their pieces.
This beautiful Mainline low boy chest by Hooker is Model 432. It features a flush drawer without a handle across the top. The bottom section has 2 drawers with handles. The steel handles are classic Hooker with a swinging center for gripping. The legs are tapered with painted tips and supported by stretcher bars.
It measures 36 inches wide by 20 deep and stands 31 ¾ high.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The grain and finish are beautiful with very minimal wear. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
We also have the matching 432 Dresser.
