Mid-Century MOE Lighting Pulldown Chandelier
A vintage MOE pulldown chandelier by Thomas Industries offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
Moe Brothers Lighting was founded in 1919. They were known for innovative style and design. They were acquired by Lee Thomas in 1948 and re-named Thomas Industries in 1953. In the very early 1960s Thomas Industries introduced the “Moe” line of lighting that rode the mid-century modern fever in the United States. The Moe line features pulldowns, sconces and various other styles of beautiful colored lighting with a mid-century style that collectors, decorators and homeowners search for.
This Moe pulldown chandelier is the M-3000 model which features a “honey natural” lattice cone over white fiberglass. The lamp is attached to the classic pulldown mechanism, which allows the light to be pushed up toward the ceiling or pulled down from the ceiling. The lamp ring, cone collar, pulldown mechanism and ceiling collar have a shiny brass finish. The original walnut pulldown handle has been replaced with a brass ring that has a 3 way light switch. The convex bottom is translucent glass allowing a beautifully soft light to pass through without glare.
The M-3000 fixture has a diameter of 22 inches. Moe catalogs advertise a pulldown length of 21 to 54 inches, but I have not tested the limits.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The electrical work perfectly. There are no nicks or chips to the glass. The pulldown mechanism works smoothly. The wiring up top is easily accessible for wiring into the ceiling.
This is a classically gorgeous and highly sought after Moe pulldown chandelier.
