Mid-Century Teak and Smoked Glass Table by Ekornes of Norway

This is a vintage, mid-century smoked glass teak coffee table by Ekornes of Norway. 
 
Ekornes is a Norwegian company founded in Sykklven, Norway in 1934 by Jens Ekornes.  The company was originally based on a patented mattress spring concept for more restful sleep. By 1966 the Ekornes produced chairs, coffee tables and end tables.
 
This is a square Ekornes coffee table made of teak. The smoked glass insert sits elegantly and protected on supports inside the square. The table is light colored as is typical with Ekornes and has the classic Ekornes oval legs. This piece is from the 1970s. Underneath, it has a silver foil sticker stating it is “Ekornes/MADE IN NORWAY”.
 
It measures 31 ¾ inches square and stands 16 ¾ high.  
 
This table is in excellent vintage condition. The wood has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness.
