Mid-Century Walnut Lounge Chair

Mid-Century Walnut Lounge Chair

A vintage, mid-century walnut lounge chair from Snowdrift Antiques.

This mid-century styled walnut chair has no maker’s marks so we don’t know who made it.  That is a shame because it is a beauty. It is most likely from the 1960s. Regardless of its origins, it has classic Danish modern lines. It has surfboard shaped arms with a slight dip when viewed from the side.  The back consists of 4 wooden rods inside a wooden frame. It has 6 fagas straps to provide support for the seat cushion.

The footprint of the chair measures 28 ½ by 24 ½ inches.  The seat height measures 15 ½ with a seat width of 22 ½ inches.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition. It is solid in construction with no repairs that I can see. It has some minor, age appropriate wear here and there. It has been oiled lightly to relieve it from the Colorado dryness and the grain is excellent.  It’s new high density foam makes it very comfortable. The Fagas straps are in excellent condition with great elasticity.  It has been professionally re-covered in vintage style fabric from Knoll’s Diva collection in the color called “Saffron”.

This is a beautiful chair with new foam for comfort and new upholstery that will let it fit right into a mid-century room.
