Mirro Atomic Styled Hot/Cold Server or Ice Bucket

Mirro Atomic Styled Hot/Cold Server or Ice Bucket

$0.00Price

A vintage 1960s Mirro Atomic Hot & Cold Server, that can also be used as an ice bucket, offered by Snowdrift Antiques.

The Mirro Aluminum Company was founded in Newark, New Jersey as the result of the merger of three companies. During the war they paused their creation of household goods to assist in the war effort. Soon after they re-started their production of aluminum Christmas trees and various stylized serving pieces, cookware and utensils. In 1983 they were acquired by The Newel Companies and are still operational today.

What a statement this piece makes on a table with its space-age atomic profile and mixed metal elegance.  As described in a marketing piece back in the day – “Mirro’s Hot and Cold Server keeps food “just right”. It’s a handsome 2-quart gleaming aluminum bowl smartly set off with black and gold”. It can also work as an awesome ice bucket for champagne, wine or other drinks you need to keep cold.

It is in very good vintage condition, having been lovingly cared for, it has only minor scuffs and scratches but no discernable dents. It sits beautifully and snugly in its black (Bakelite?) tripod leg stand.

The server is 8½” high and has a diameter of 8¼“; when in the stand the overall height is 9¾“.

This cool atomic era rocket shaped server/ice bucket is just waiting to take off to its new home.
