Pair of Danish Teak End Tables by Komfort
A pair of mid-century teak, end or coffee tables by Komfort of DENMARK and designed by Juul Kristensen, offered by Snowdrift Antiques.
Danish furniture manufacturer Komfort is known for producing mid-century pieces during the 1950s, and ‘60s by well-known Danish architect-designers Sven Ellekaer, Arne Wahl Iversen, and Juul Kristensen. The pieces include coffee and end tables, dining room tables and chairs, were designed in the Danish modern style that reigned at the time.
Juul Kristensen (1937-2016) was a Danish furniture designer who helped shape the aesthetics of modern Scandinavian design. Active during the mid-20th century, he is recognized for his functional, minimalist designs that incorporate natural materials like teak and oak. Kristensen started by working for Danish design and manufacturing companies, such as Fritz Hansen and Rosendahl A/S. He established his own company, Juul Kristensen Design, in 1969, which produced a range of items including furniture, lighting, and home accessories. He received several honors during his career, including the Danish Design Foundation's Prix d'Excellence in 1974 and the Danish Design Grand Prix in 1987.
These tables could function as end or coffee tables, depending upon your space and needs. They are from the 1960s and were designed by Juul Kristensen for Komfort. These tables are made of teak with excellent grain, color and striation. They measure 28” x 27 ¼ x 19 ½ high. They have been oiled and restored to relieve them from the Colorado dryness. Due to the nature of teak, there are some darker areas in the center where a lamp has protected the teak from the sun for decades.
This is a beautiful pair of tables that will add classic, mid-century style to your space.
