Pair of Laurel Table Top Mushroom Lamps
A pair of vintage mushroom table lamps by the Laurel Lamp Company from Snowdrift Antiques.
These very cool table lamps were produced in the 1970s by the Laurel Lamp Company of Newark, NJ. They feature a tapered, brass pedestal shaped base that gracefully flares out to a weighted brass base on the bottom and a flared brass neck on top.
It is called a mushroom lamp for obvious reasons. These lamps have an all-brass base. Both have the Underwriter’s Laboratory sticker marked with “Laurel Lamp Mfg. Co.”. The glass globe itself is frosted, giving an even and soft glow. The switch is a 3 way, allowing you to adjust the light output.
A lamp stands 12 inches tall including the 13” wide globe. The circular base has a 7 inch diameter.
These lamps are in excellent vintage condition. The globes are free of chips or nicks. The brass has a nice, normal patina without pitting or tarnish. I have not polished them, only wiped them off with a damp cloth. I will leave the decision to polish or not to their next owner. The switch works perfectly and the original wiring is intact.
This is a beautiful pair of difficult to find mushroom table lamps by Laurel.
